Rebecca Smeyne is a New York-based documentary and portrait photographer, currently covering all ends of the fashion, art, entertainment, nightlife, philanthropy, and culture scenes, most frequently for The New York Times (2013-current). She is also on the masthead at PAPER, where she has contributed since 2011, and shoots assignments for publications such as Bloomberg Businessweek, Billboard, New York Magazine, GQ.com, Vogue.com, Vice's Thump, Cosmopolitan.com and a variety of European lifestyle magazinesAdditionally, she shoots for companies like Vice, BET, Twitter, Adidas, and Red Bull.

Previously she focused heavily on the music industry and underground nightlife culture, and was on the masthead at SPIN magazine until it ceased print in 2014. She was a photoblogger for the Village Voice from 2007-2011, and a photoblogger for MTV Hive from 2010-2012.

Rebecca has a degree in sociology from Columbia University, and her photos have received some of the industry's biggest honors, such as American Photography Annual, PDN Annual, and a Society of Publication Designers Medal.
