Rebecca Smeyne is a Brooklyn-based freelance documentary, event, and portrait photographer, currently covering all ends of the fashion, art, entertainment, nightlife, philanthropy, and culture scenes for The New York Times (2013-current). She is also on the masthead at PAPER, where she has contributed since 2011, and shoots assignments for publications such as Billboard, New York Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, Playboy, Cosmopolitan, and The Hollywood Reporter, and branded content for companies including Adidas, Vice, Red Bull, Twitter, and BET. Event clients include the Seinfeld family, the Guggenheim, and the Pitchfork Festival. Previously, she was on the masthead at SPIN magazine until it ceased print publication in 2014, shot a photo-based music column for the Village Voice from 2007-2011, and did a regular feature for MTV Hive from 2010-2012. Since 2007, she has photographed well over 1000 parties and 1000 bands.

Rebecca has a degree in sociology from Columbia University. Her photos are included in several editions of the American Photography Annual and PDN Annual, and have received a Society of Publication Designers Medal.
